Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake
Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake is the perfect sweet cake for breakfast or after dinner. The chocolate chips, fluffy moist cake and crunchy cinnamon sugar topping are a winning combination. This was always a special treat that my mom made for me and my brothers growing up and I do the same for my kids.
SOUR CREAM CHOCOLATE CHIP COFFEE CAKE (click here to print)
- 1/4 cup butter (room temp)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1.5 cups of flour
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mini semi sweet chocolate chips
In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. In a separate bowl combine; flour, baking soda and baking powder. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla to butter mixture and combine. Slowly add in dry mixture and combine. Now, add chocolate chips. (mini chips work best as they don't sink to the bottom of the cake). Pour batter into a lightly greased 9" x 9" pan. (I have found my stoneware works best for this cake)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Mix together and sprinkle over entire cake. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Use a toothpick in the center of cake to test if fully baked. If toothpick comes out clean, it's ready!
